You’ll find Boutique Hotel F6 on one of Helsinki’s very orderly streets near the harbour, an orderly building with perfectly arranged striped awnings over each window.
The interior is equally put-together, with an additional feeling of squishy welcome courtesy of an inner courtyard that looks like it belongs to Emma Mackey in Barbie.
There’s a retro charm to the situation, paired with the surreal quality of the floor-lamp-esque outdoor lights and the orangey ‘ground’.
It sounds like it could be weird, and it is, but just a little, and weird can have a place in our hearts too.
Any cute weirdness though joins the queue behind super plush guestrooms, a chic bar, great location and good value pricing.
What are the rooms like?
- 76 rooms: A generous spread from Standard to Grand Deluxe, all starting at a comfortable size.
- Modern glam: Clean lines, cosy colours, and a polished but relaxed aesthetic.
- Well-equipped: Plush beds, robes, minibars, seating areas and thoughtful amenities throughout.

Rooms have a clean, modern feel with just a little bit of glam.
Dark greys, soft tans and striking reds form a colour scheme just made for snuggly days when Helsinki feels a bit cloudy.
Plenty of windows allow you to take full advantage of the sun, and unassuming wooden furnishings add a bit of casualness to the whole affair.
All in all, rooms at Hotel F6 feel like staying at the flat of a really posh friend of a friend.
You know, the one with more than 4 bookshelves and a record collection worthy of 3 High Fidelity adaptations.
Options range from Standard to Grand Deluxe, nicely spacious with a 22 square metre minimum.
Certain rooms have French balconies that look out onto the courtyard. Contact reception for more details.
Whatever you choose at F6, amenities are solid. Each room features super-plush mattresses, robes, minibars, TVs, and some sort of seating.

And what’s the food like? Any facilities we should know about?
- Standout breakfast: A generous, high-quality spread with Finnish specialties.
- Chic bar: Runar serves creative cocktails with herbs grown in the courtyard greenhouse.
- Extra perks: On-site gym, bikes to borrow, and thoughtful local collaborations.
We love a hotel that includes a great breakfast.
At F6 it sure isn’t average continental, you’ll enjoy a daily spread of pies, eggs, pastries, cereals, and more.
It’s an excellent way to start your day, and it’s even open to outsiders for a (somewhat high?) fee.
There’s also a chic, atmospheric hotel bar, Runar, for you to enjoy.
They feature lovely cocktails flavoured with herbs grown in a small greenhouse in the courtyard, and it’s such little touches that make a place sing.
All hotel spaces forego opulent styles of elegance and opt for something simpler, making the entire property feel approachable.
Collaborations with other businesses like Wolt give a residential flavour.
The on-site gym is easy to use and relatively unintimidating. Bikes are available on the property too for easy exploration of the city.
How is the neighbourhood? Anything interesting nearby?
- Central base: Walkable location near the harbour with excellent transport links.
- Cultural spots: Markets, museums and landmark squares all close at hand.
- Easy exploring: Bikes, trams and ferries make seeing the wider city simple.
You’re in the centre of the city, but be warned, Helsinki is the kind of place you’ll want to see many sides of.
Luckily, you’ve got bikes, and it’s bike-friendly. If that’s not your thing, public transportation is superb.
But even then, there’s enough to occupy you a bit within walking distance, if you know where to look.
For classic tourism, enjoy the vibes around Kauppatori Market, though we’d ask the hotel where to actually have a meal.
Senate Square and its grand architecture are a 7-minute walk away, near a handful of other museums, of varying quality.
There are some commercial options like the Paradox Museum, but others like Media Museum Merkki and the Architecture & Design Museum give a little culture.
They’re all within 10 minutes of Hotel F6.
Must-sees a little further away include Oodi library and its nearby park, the Kaisaniemi botanic garden.
Head to Ullanlinna or Töölö to enjoy some more seaside charm.
Here’s a really good guide to the city.
And what about the reviews? What did other guests think?
Some things guests liked:
“They room was beautiful, we loved the furniture and were so comfortable. The breakfasts with Marimekko crockery were delicious, the location is great and most of all the staff were so helpful, especially when our luggage was lost briefly by the airline and I wanted to mail a parcel….”
“Breakfast buffet was extensive and a bit “out of the ordinary” (i.e. Finish specialties, healthy options – not just the usual stuff one gets in most 4* hotels), and staff was super friendly and helpful; besides, the location is perfect to explore Helsinki by foot and public transport)!…”
Some things guests didn’t like:
”A sauna would have been nice ;-)….”
”Lifts quite small when you have several bags….”
