The Manes is old on the outside, new on the inside, housed in a 1891 Neo-Renaissance building stood imposingly on a street near the Vltava.
It makes quite a statement as you disembark from your taxi.
Inside it’s shiny surfaces and black and white, whimsical contemporary takes on classic artwork on the walls.
It’s past meets sleek present, in a way, but there’s not much effort to blend the two.
There are plenty of hotels in Prague that show more ingenuity in the pairing, but that’s not really the point of the Manes.
It has been consistently one of the (if not the) most highly guest rated hotels in Prague for the past number of years, and, for such a great hotel, has pleasantly reasonable rates.

The Manes is one of the those hotels that takes care of guests even at the most basic, level, which we like.
Standard rooms start at a solid 20 square metres, Comfort options sitting nooks and bathtubs.
Suites start at 30 square metres, gorgeous duplex options full of natural light. The little book nooks under the staircases are an excellent touch.
The design isn’t going to win any cutting-edge awards, but the greyscale furnishings and rosy accents work nicely.
Some elements of the architecture shape the rooms in unique ways that feel especially charming.
And the amenities are excellent. Even the most basic options include Smart TVs with Netflix, Marshall speakers, Nespresso machines, a minibar, robes, and rainfall showers.

And what’s the food like? Any facilities we should know about?
- Quality breakfast: – selection feels refined, even if not especially varied.
- Café option: – pastries and light bites from Café Lola add a relaxed daytime option.
- Dining nearby: – external options are close if you prefer to explore.
- Wellness access: – spa, sauna, and jacuzzi next door offer a proper unwind.
- Fitness space: – small but well-kept gym covers the basics.
Breakfast is a rich spread with not a lot of variety but plenty of quality, available for a bit of a premium.
If you like eating in the hotel each morning, it’s probably worth it, but if you prefer to explore local cafes and restaurants, you won’t be far from other options.
During the day, Café Lola offers homemade pastries and all sorts of goodies. For dinner and drinks, try the Peruvian delights from Bistro Meza Cruz.
In our opinion, The Manes’s best event is the wellness facilities.
A simple yet well-cared-for Technogym is ready for anyone hoping to hop on the treadmill or lift a couple of weights.
More importantly, a private sauna and nicely-equpped spa waits for guests at The Manes’s sister hotel, Mosaic House, next door. There’s a comfortable lounging area by the jaccuzi.
If that’s not enough, schedule a massage in the private treatment rooms.
How is the neighbourhood? Anything interesting nearby?
- New Town setting: – slightly quieter than Old Town but still central.
- Riverside access: – easy walks along the Vltava connect you to key sights.
- Local highlights: – parks, churches, and landmarks sit within a short stroll.
- Walkable centre: – Old Town attractions are about 15 minutes away on foot.
- Balanced vibe: – mix of everyday Prague life and tourist-friendly spots nearby.
Nové Město, Prague’s New Town, sits near the riverside south of the Old Town.
It’s not that new, we must, admit, but you’ll find a larger range of architecture here, and a smaller number of tourists than the area around the Klementinum.
It might not be the main tourist hub, it’s a shopping district more than anything, but there are plenty of cafés, restaurants, and historical highlights to explore right near the hotel.
The Manes sits right near Karlovo Náměstí, where you’ll find a lovely green park and church surrounded by historic monuments.
Frank Gehry’s dancing house is just 5 minutes in the other direction.
When you’re ready to see the Astronomical Clock, the Church of Our Lady before Týn, and all the other Old Town highlights, just walk around 15 minutes by the riverside.
Or, pop over the river and head towards the stunning Prague Castle.
It’s a half-hour walk directly, but if you stop to have a beer and wander a bit in Malá Strana you can make an afternoon out of it.
