The Emerald Hotel Prague is a masterpiece of historically-conscious design, offering its uniquely beautiful spaces as settings for influencers, filmmakers, and photographers
It’s a luxury apart-hotel, so one for more independent types, where every apartment showcases original exposed brick, and other thoughtful details that honor the building’s 100+ year history,
Modern design elements are keyed in too, to great effect. You’ll wander through pristine wood interiors, painted in rich colours and full of impeccably curated furnishings.
It helps that most of the designers are local, and clearly some of the best Prague has to offer at that.
Finally, we like that the Emerald offers solidly good value rates for so much space in such a prime Old Town location.

The Emerald’s rooms come in 5 categories, each floor with a distinctive design.
The second floor brims with Japanese-inspired simplicity and natural beauty below a more casual floor with vague ties to modern minimalism.
The fourth floor has the most expected kind of historical flair, with walls of ochre and exposed brick, mirrored vanities and furnishings that look either antique or custom-made.
The fifth is full of indulgence, where amenities like soaking tubs, second floors and hand-picked art pieces are complemented by both either ornate furnishings or sophisticated modern charm.
The top floor has the kind of calm, wood-focused decor that doesn’t feel as indulgent, but at the end of the day, it’s a 115 square metre apartment with a full kitchen and mind-blowing views of Prague’s most beautiful neighbourhood.
Even the simplest options, however, are well-suited to a comfortable stay.
Every apartment has a full kitchen with a Nespresso machine, high-quality linens and cosmetics, some kind of seating, and individual climate control.
What are prices like?
Note: There is a minimum stay of 4 nights at the Emerald.
And what’s the food like? Any facilities we should know about?
- Self-catering: – full kitchens are well equipped
- Food nearby: – cafés and restaurants feel plentiful just outside the door.
- Concierge extras: – private chefs and in-room massages can be arranged with ease.
- Helpful services: – transfers, tours, and recommendations seem readily available.
- Personal touches: – details like curated playlists give each space a tailored feel.
You’re making food for yourself, and the kitchens are ready for pretty much anything. You’re also in Old Town Prague, so you’ll have loads of good food options just outside your door.
The main drawback of apartment-style accommodation is a lack of facilities, but we have to admit the Emerald has done a solid job of making up for it.
Guests will find laundry services at their disposal (open hours may apply), and extensive concierge services bring private chefs and masseuses to your room without any effort on your part.
They’ll also help with airport transfers, recommendations, organising tours, and more.
Every detail has been considered (really, there are Spotify playlists tailored to each room), but they’re all optional, making for a great personalised experience.
How is the neighbourhood? Anything interesting nearby?
- Old Town setting: – right in the heart of Prague’s most historic and lively area.
- Landmark access: – major sights like the Astronomical Clock and Prague Castle feel close by.
- Riverside walks: – bridges and the Vltava are just moments away.
- Busy atmosphere: – expect crowds, but also endless cafés, shops, and attractions.
- Easy exploring: – both Old Town and New Town areas are reachable on foot.
Another way to take the sting out of the Emerald’s lack of facilities is to consider the neighbourhood.
The stunningly beautiful Old Town Prague is tourist-central, of course, and don’t expect it to be calm, but there’s a reason everyone wants to be there.
Cafés, restaurants, and history can be found around every corner.
Jan Palach Square is right around the corner, a social hub and memorial that sits right on the edge of Manes Bridge and the Vitava River.
One walk across the river then and you’re at the foot of Prague Castle.
It’s around 20 minutes walk from the Emerald Hotel to the castle entrance.
In the other direction you’ll find the Prague Astronomical Clock, Klementinum, the Church of Our Lady before Týn, and any number of other museums. Take your pick.
Nové Město, or New Town, where most of the city centre shopping is, is just down the riverside, just 15 minutes to the National Theatre.
While there, check out Fontánka Park, Faust House, Wenceslas Square and the National Museum, all within a relatively easy half-hour walk.
And what about the reviews? What did other guests think?
Some things guests liked:
“Fantastic location right at the center of the historic part of Prague. The apartment was big for two persons with two separate rooms. It was warm, cozy and the hosts were replying in our questions within minutes. Will definitely choose it again in the future!! The curtains really stopped any light to enter the room in the morning, the street was mostly quiet and right outside there was restaurant , mini market, fast food and souvenir shop. Really lucky to have stayed there!…”
“We really enjoyed our stay here. The hotel is spotless, well-run, and clearly cared for — everything felt smooth and under control from start to finish. The location is a big win: super convenient, easy to walk everywhere….”
Some things guests didn’t like:
”Bathroom fittings could be improved. no light at the make up mirror, handheld shower head came unscrewed, toilet paper fell off the holder on to the floor every time it was used. It looked great but could be more useable….”
”Would be nice to have a label indicating were the elevator was.. Arrived at night so carried our suitcases on the 4th floor by hand only to realize the next day that there was indeed an elevator if we searched a tiny bit more!…”
