Fairlane Hotel Nashville

Fairlane Hotel Nashville, Tennessee, is a stylish kind of retro, inspired by the building’s origins, the 1972 former headquarters of Fidelity Bank. We’re fairly sure the bank was never this hip, though. The “FAIRLANE” sign perched on top and the colorful furnishings in the lobby are sure more welcoming than your average bank, though they have retained the terrazzo flooring. It’s a great balance of friendly, upbeat color and some serious displays of glamor. The branding, the little touches, all have a sort of art deco flair that makes the retro… > Read Our Full Review

The Hermitage Hotel

If you’re into old-school luxury, The Hermitage, in Downtown Nashville, Tennessee really is the one. The Hermitage is a 1910 building that has served as the city’s premier lodging since the doors first opened. This is no repurposed bank building, post-industrial factory rebuild; it’s a full-on fancy hotel made to be a fancy hotel. The most recent renovation was completed in 2022, making for spaces filled with furnishings that are definitely of the now but have a timeless quality. They fit nicely into the marble, the terrazzo flooring and even… > Read Our Full Review

The Memphian

The Memphian is a swank boutique hotel that catches the eye near Memphis’ newly revitalized Overton Square. It looms a bit in context, with the rest of the neighborhood a bit smaller in scale. But, this makes it feel grand, and anyone who likes to make an entrance will probably enjoy it. It’s part of Marriott’s Tribute Portfolio of independent hotels, meaning you can trust their standards of comfort. The atmosphere is of contemporary luxury but with a solid dose of bold quirk. Plush couches in the onsite bar sit… > Read Our Full Review

The Oliver Hotel

This superbly designed Olivier Hotel in Downtown Knoxville is a nice example of a historically focused boutique. The building in question is a 1876 former bakery that will likely not be making any lists of historic sites, but still has the charm. The interiors are decidedly modern, in that chic apartment way that screams “my best friend custom orders coffee tables from Italy.” It’s all geometric carpets and gallery-hung stairwells and clever touches that make the space feel lush without crowding it. We especially love the Peter Kern Library speakeasy,… > Read Our Full Review

The Central Station Memphis

This Memphis, Tennessee hotel jumps straight on the new trend of boutique hotels in renovated train stations. Like some others, the station in question still runs daily, though in a limited capacity. You might think the noise would be an issue, but actual train traffic is very limited, and tramways aren’t known for their noise pollution. Guests don’t seem to have many issues with this element, so sensitive sleepers can breathe easy. And the renovation is a clear success. The building itself, a 1914 Roman Revival number, is a gorgeous… > Read Our Full Review

The Tennesseean Hotel

The Tennesseean Hotel is a mood-lit, velvety, glowing golden space right from the jump. The vibe is contemporary, with gold accents and clean lines that give a little whisper of art deco elegance. Most of the luxury boxes are checked, from tea service to turndown service. Almost every inch of the hotel is coated in sunlight and offers more than enough room. There are also a number of transportation options that make exploring Knoxville, Tennessee super simple. There’s no spa or pool, unfortunately, but we’re pretty sure the concierge would… > Read Our Full Review

ARRIVE Memphis

ARRIVE Memphis is an outpost of Palisociety in the lovely arts district of South Main, Memphis,Tennessee, The boutique hotel brand is known for hip design, a bit on the maximalist side but with a deft hand for glamour. They’re dedicated for melding the hotel with its environment, favoring renovated buildings, and this is an excellent example. It’s a cozy version of post-industrial, an old brick number without much historical clout, but with a great location and a lovely facade. Everything inside is set up for the ultimate Memphis-inspired comfort. Much… > Read Our Full Review

Graduate Knoxville

All Hilton Graduate hotels have a similar kind of casual hip to them, but something about the UT colors and Knoxville vibe makes it just work better here. Orange and white is a satisfying combination anyway, but the scattered florals and gimmicky elements like the boat-turned-front desk make the whole thing both nostalgic and fun. The whole place feels like it’s conceived by some really cool grandma who was a cheerleader for UT before she married a biologist and started growing weed in her kitchen. Things are laid back but… > Read Our Full Review

The Nash Hotel

Just a few blocks off Broadway, the, laid back but fun, Nash Hotel (formerly known as Bobby Hotel) has just enough gimmicky grunge to make you feel slightly rebellious. It’s definitely leaning into the rock and roll of it all, with a sultry, almost leathery glamour that fits well with the mythos of the city. It’s somewhat masculine, but also cheery and welcoming. They rely on neat cityscape murals, weird egg chairs, gold accents, colorful design elements and lots of fairy lights (yup!) to balance things out. The Nash all… > Read Our Full Review
