Bachleda Luxury Hotel

Old Town Krakow has plenty of grand history, and high-end historic hotels, but for something a little more OTT, we go west of centre to find Bachleda Luxury Hotel. It occupies a 19th-century tenement building on the same street as the Kraków Philharmonic. It’s an exercise in maximalism, but one rooted in history. It’s not Art Deco, or the more general 20th-century styles that some historic design hotels seem to favor. Bachleda, instead, takes on the far greater challenge of the Baroque. We’re talking royal blues, satin, studded furnishings covered… > Read Our Full Review

Hotel Stary, Krakow

The most stylish boutique hotel in Krakow? Well, we wouldn’t disagree. Hotel Stary has delicately turned a 14th-century ruin into a superb, award-winning piece of interior design. The synthesis of present and past is a work of art, placing sleek leather next to half-plastered stone walls that speak of living for centuries. An incredible amount of the original architecture has been preserved in some way. Some, like the weathered brick arches, are physically striking; others have simply been woven into the heart of the decor. We’re talking baroque, we’re talking… > Read Our Full Review

The Bonerowski Palace

The Bonerowski Palace in Krakow’s Old Town can be a family-friendly option, but, with that name, only if your family does not include any 12-year-old boys, of any age, we’d say. The Bonerowski was, ahem, erected in the 14th-century, and modernised in the early 2000s to the upper levels of timeless elegance. They’ve done very little funny business with the decor; it shows much of what you’d expect from a historic boutique hotel. The general design is either period-inspired or that style of classic luxury that’s hard to put a… > Read Our Full Review

Warszauer Hotel

A super chic design hotel in Kazimierz, Krakow, Warszauer is small enough to be intimate and homely yet modern and stylish enough to feel a bit aloof. Its streamlined, white facade among this neighbourhood’s old stone walls adds an immediate sense of boldness sure to catch your attention. Well, we say bold, but some might say a tad unwelcoming. But whatever about the exterior, the interiors display their own lovely brand of Nordic minimalism. Here, friendly plants, natural wood furniture and soft lighting blur the hard lines and bare surfaces… > Read Our Full Review

Hotel Copernicus

Hotel Copernicus, in Kraków’s Old Town, is, we feel, fit for a (Renaissance era Polish) king. Its ornamented reddish brick facade just demands attention, even amongst a whole bunch of other lovely buildings. On the picturesque Kanonicza Street, we love how this hotel both fits in and stands out. Furnishings and decor are heavy in the way of antiques, sporting dark woods and the occasional sumptuous black leather. The hotel is the first in Poland to be associated with Relais & Châteaux. The spa operates under L’Occitane and the restaurant… > Read Our Full Review
