Hotel Malleberg

Hotel Malleberg is an eco-conscious, (Green Key Certification) Bruges boutique hotel run by a friendly local couple. The building is a historic Flemish townhouse, once home to the Surrealist painter Rachel Baes. The interiors are now of course modernised, the decor is pretty contemporary but the atmosphere and the aesthetic still feel suitably olde. The food is entirely plant-based at Hotel Malleberg, which may be, well, we’d hope not, but, off-putting to some. Hotel Van Cleef

Hotel Van Cleef, in Bruges’ Sint-Anna Quarter, is a highly regarded, luxury boutique hotel housed in a grand Italianate mansion. It offers just enough centrality for convenience while retaining the peaceful charm of a classic Bruges canal-side setting. The building is a former carriage house, which has led some rooms to be on the small side. Spend a little more, and you’ll get more space, but all the rooms are warm and welcoming, even… > Read Our Full Review

The Notary Hotel Bruges

The Notary Hotel is a 19th-century mansion in central Bruges with beautiful, surprisingly large gardens, and an oasis-like quality. It was the former home of a family of… notaries, which may not be the most romantic backstory, but it did leave behind some very pretty architecture. The decor leans a little more modern — or at least classic — but there’s still beautifully ornate throughout. There’s an on-site wellness programme too, which, along with the gardens and the calming atmosphere, makes The Notary a thoroughly relaxing place to be.  … > Read Our Full Review
