The Leo Grand

The Leo Grand is a gorgeous boutique hotel in Vienna’s Old Town that really likes to please. Irrelevant sidetrack but the hotel’s website marketing is kind of a hoot. We’re suspecting some aging millennials are involved. They say things like ‘The First District in Vienna has never looked this sexy’ (yes, it has) and ‘WHO THE F*** IS LEO?’ in there. So, that doesn’t please, but anyway, now that that’s out of the way, Leo Grand seems fond of pink and gives some big diva energy (yaas kween? Did we… > Read Our Full Review

Hotel MOTTO

The building is spectacular; a shiny white statement on a corner off Mariahilfer Strasse, in Vienna’s 6th. Hotel MOTTO glows here in an uppity kind of way, which is pretty indicative of what you’ll find inside. This boutique hotel is impeccably designed, and has all the patterned wallpaper an aficionado of old school chic might desire. Each element balances the other for an atmosphere that feels very sophisticated, but also somehow laid back. There are touches of Wes Anderson in the marketing, which adds enough whimsy to keep the glamour… > Read Our Full Review

Miiro Palais Rudolf

Palais Rudolf is a particularly chic boutique hotel in Vienna’s Innere Stadt, now part of the Pan-European Miiro luxury hotel chain. The vibe here is one of handsome splendor that remains somehow unassuming; a lovely collection of laid-back yet luxurious spaces. Just like in Vienna itself, stylish, spy-noiresque backdrops are everywhere at this hotel, with its clean lines, rich woods, and delicate colour schemes. In idle moments, we imagine it as the set of a complex, high-budget drama about an ill-fated love affair between a Cold War-era J2 agent and… > Read Our Full Review

Die Josefine

This very Viennese Gründerzeit style boutique hotel has some stories to tell. Built in 1896, Die Josefine has a novel literary theme where it introduces you to a fictional young aristocrat named Josephine de Bourblanc. On the run from the Russian Revolution, she came to Vienna and made the hotel her home. She had a penchant for surrealism, and for regailing fellow guests with tall tales of far off places. The hotel thus created for itself a kind of founding myth, and encourages guests to partake in imagining Josefine’s, and… > Read Our Full Review

Boutique Hotel Altstadt

Hotel Altstadt is an intimate, art-filled boutique hotel, decidedly modern despite the quintessentially Viennese exterior. It’s in a very trendy part of town, just outside the tourist centre, which gives it more of that local connection that we feel any good boutique hotel should have. The spaces are bold and attractive, studded with superb contemporary artwork sourced from the owner’s own collection and his art world contacts. We love that each space is hand-designed by a darling of the various design industries, including clever architects, fashion visionaries, local gallerists, and… > Read Our Full Review
