Near Quebec’s Old Port, Hotel Cap Diamant’s townhouse building is almost two-centuries old.
Its rooms though feel like they were decorated yesterday, by an empty nester with a long-standing subscription to Vogue Living.
It’s all supremely hip – the interior decoration lush with personality and vintage feeling.
With fewer than 10 rooms, you’re also guaranteed a sense of familiarity.
Many hotels this small will have a virtual concierge system, but the staff at Hotel Cap Diamant are here full time and always happy to help.
The smaller size precludes certain amenities, of course, so if you like a top-tier luxury experience, you might want to look at something bigger.
For something homey, charming, and impeccably decorated, we’ll send you right here.
What are the rooms like?
- Number of rooms: 9 unique and stylishly designed spaces, each full of charm.
- Individual character: Every room has distinctive features like fireplaces or curated art.
- Compact comfort: Rooms are small (200–270 sq ft) but cleverly arranged with king beds.
- Modern amenities: TVs, pantries, tiled bathrooms, robes, and efficient storage included.
- Accessibility tip: No elevator—book a lower-level room if stairs are an issue.

Each room is unique at Hotel Cap Diamant, but all have a similar creative, modern design.
All have special features, from a non-functioning fireplace set up with large candles to one-of-a-kind contemporary artwork.
We especially love the curvy, modern beside tables that fill the larger rooms.
Everything feels entirely designed for the space, even if they are on the smaller side.
We wouldn’t put any above another, save for availability, size, and floor number.
There’s a luggage lift, but nothing for people. If stairs are a challenge, grab something low-level.
We’re not joking about the small. Rooms run from 200-270 square feet at Hotel Cap Diamant.
We’re honestly a bit surprised they chose king beds, but they’ve done an impressive job of fitting everything you really need into the space.
All rooms include TVs, little pantries, cute tile bathrooms, robes, and well-situated storage in most.

- Elegant common spaces: Every part of the building feels beautifully designed.
- Cozy lounge: A small but inviting area for breakfast or relaxation.
- Local breakfast: Light, pastry-based, and served in the shared lounge.
- Wine bar: Includes a small bar and wine cellar with local selections.
- Dining out: Staff can guide you to nearby restaurants for larger meals.
At Hotel Cap Diamant, every entry and exit will take you through a truly beautiful space, even before you get to your room.
It’s a gorgeous space, fully worthy of a full spread, an online article, an Instagram reel, whatever the kids are doing these days.
A small lounge is available all day for guests at Cap Diamant. It’s also there for breakfast service, which is decidedly local, and pastry-heavy.
There is a small bar, with space for working, or just chatting, and the excellent touch of a wine cellar filled with things to sample.
For big meals, you’ll have to check with the staff for recommendations. They won’t be hard to find, or far away.

Who’s for a peaceful stay by Quebec’s atmospheric harbourside? Hotel Cap Diamant is the place.
It’s a bit out of the way, relatively, tucked in the southern end of the Old Port, away from the more active areas of Basse Ville and the like.
Yet, you’re in view of the Citadelle of Québec, with its lovely promenade.
There’s plenty of sightseeing around Battlefields Park, such as the Plains of Abraham Museum, which will be walking distance.
And, if you choose, you can head up the walking paths towards the centre of the port.
The Place des Canotiers is a 15-minute walk, with the Civilisation Museum, the Naval Museum, and the Bassin Louise beyond.
For longer stays, it’s very much worth snagging a car to check out Île d’Orléans.
A stop at Montmorency Falls on the way is about 15 minutes, add on 5 for the bridge, and whatever time you want for exploring the island.
